RE:Melancholy is a unique game featuring an array of characters, including yourself, the player. Your role diverges greatly from the others, as you exist outside this world, interacting with it only through a marshmallow avatar granted to you. This unexpected intrusion disrupts the marshmallow's life, inciting various conflicts that impact both its existence and the broader world. The game thrusts you into a recurring, enduring quest to shield this world from an extraspatial entity that seeks to erase its memory. Alternatively, you could join this entity in thwarting the efforts of another being striving to maintain the world's existence. Despite this seeming clarity, the decision is far from straightforward. To make an informed choice, you must uncover the realities of this paradoxical world.

The game immerses you in a beautifully crafted world where varying visuals merge effortlessly, bringing to life an impressive universe through Vaaston, the local magic, and unique character viewpoints. Starting in a late-medieval fantasy backdrop, the game then evolves, blossoming into a magical-industrial epoch, interspersing steampunk and sci-fi elements into its unfolding narrative, thereby enriching its mystery and depth.

About Vaaston

Vaaston is a potent, transformative, and infinite primordial energy pervading the universe, fueling its eternal recurrence, known as the Great Cycle. This unstable force can unpredictably interact with matter or antimatter in four ways: passing through without effect, pushing off, annihilating the object and itself, or unifying with it. The rarest and most potent is the unification, where Vaaston's infinite potential energy is converted into three times more matter. This unification process culminates in the formation of a Chronosphere, a sphere where time aligns with its own. Here, the growth of the unification point halts, and the fusion of past matter with future Vaaston occasionally gives rise to different matter types and, more rarely, living organisms. Through the infinite iterations of the Great Cycle, various life forms, including humans, elves, dwarfs, and fairies, have emerged, all powered by the cosmic dynamism of Vaaston.
